Emergency Work

CRH Plumbing is based in Moorabbin, Melbourne which enables us to service the Bayside and surrounding areas in an effective time frame. We understand that sometimes things happen that are beyond your control and often this happens at the most inconvenient times. The CRH Plumbing philosophy is to fix the immediate problem urgently and then return to your property during normal working hours to complete the job.

Most of the emergency work at CRH Plumbing is blocked drains or toilets, burst water pipes, water damage or leaking, gas leaks, tap maintenance, overflowing gutters, roof leaks, hot water system repairs, blocked down pipes and broken tapware.

CRH Plumbing has provided the plumbing for numerous extensions in all areas of Melbourne. These projects range from small to large renovation work.

Involved in these extensions is the plumbing of new bathrooms, ensuites, laundry and kitchens. This involves:
  •   Below ground sewer and stormwater works
  •   Upgrade of water supplies
  •   Installation of gas appliances, including gas cooktops, gas fireplaces and hot water units
  •   New gas line up grades for new appliances
  •   Suspended drains, waste and vents
  •   Complete fit off of all plumbing fixtures from toilet suites, basin, kitchen mixers, baths, showers, laundry troughs, washing machines, kitchen sinks, taps, dishwashers and water filters

Bathroom Renovations

One of CRH’S favourite and most rewarding parts of our job is undertaking a bathroom renovation and to see top quality bathrooms finished. Involved in this process is re-plumbing the bathroom, new hot and cold water supply, new waste and sewer pipes.

Of course then installing new sanitary equipment including toilet systems, free standing bathrooms and modern tapware. Creating new plumbing for ensuite to master bedroom, fit off toilet suites, basins, tapware, bathroom mixers, shower heads, baths and bidets.

At CRH Plumbing we recommend before you start a plumbing 'rough in' for a bathroom renovation that all walls are straightened to ensure bathroom wall mixers and tapware are set at correct depth in the wall.

At CRH Plumbing we always check that existing plumbing is up to Australian Standards before connecting new plumbing for the bathroom.

Always ensure that you use a licensed waterproofer in your bathroom wet areas, to ensure you are covered by their insurance for faulty workmanship.

Burst Water Pipes

The biggest cause of burst water pipes is old pipes that are exposed to high water pressure. CRH Plumbing always recommends installing pressure limiting valves of 500kpa at the water meter for protection. In addition old galvanised pipes rust and will burst. The first sign of galvanised pipes wearing down is a rusty water colour at the tap. In garden areas tree roots can also add unnecessary pressure to water pipes. Try and avoid this by planting off small rooted plants where water pipes lie.

Finally, don’t concrete over water pipes without lagging as pipes cannot expand and will burst.

At CRH Plumbing we act rapidly for all burst water pipe incidents. Of course we secure the pipes, remove any danger and then make a plan in conjunction with the client to re-lay the piping.

Blocked Sewers and Water Pipes

At CRH Plumbing we have learnt that generally the cause of blocked sewers are broken old earthenware pipes below ground. This is usually caused by tree roots extending growth into the pipes in search of water.

The first sign of a blockage is a gurgle sound when you flush the toilet or the water level continues to rise in the toilet bowl.

Call CRH Plumbing when this happens to clear the blockage before you have to dig up and replace the old piping.

Hot Water Units

CRH Plumbing provide emergency hot water unit service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The team at CRH Plumbing install various hot water units:
  •   Mains pressure gas storage hot water units
  •   Mains pressure electric storage hot water units
  •   Installation of hot water units
  •   High flow electric hot water units
  •   Solar hot water units with gas & electric booster units

Water Service Renewal

Poor water pressure caused by corroded water pipes. Upgrade water supply from water meter and throughout the house will increase your water pressure.

This means the family will be happy during showers knowing that there is adequate water pressure.
